Obesity is a disease expanding exponentially in the world. It is considered a threat to the health because it predisposes in particular to diabetes, hypertension, arteriosclerosis and coronary heart disease.

Body weight gain is controlled by energy intake and expenditure. The components of energy expenditure are basal metabolism, exercise induced thermogenesis and adaptative thermogenesis. Our interest has principally been focused on the determinants of adaptative thermogenesis.
